The Good: Toy offers sturdy construction that's versatile enough to last several years.

Scoop 'N' Stack
The Melissa & Doug Ice Cream Set features an abundance of nostalgic ice cream parlor charm, starting with its sturdy red-and-white, striped storage container. The set includes four realistic molded plastic ice cream scoops in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and mint chocolate chip "flavors." Two wooden cones and two plastic scoopers with painted wooden handles round out the set.
The scoopers, cones, and four ice cream scoops are all magnetic, so the scoopers can actually pick up the ice cream scoops and place them on the cones. They easily release by pressing the lever, like a real ice cream scooper. Magnets in the cones keep the scoops in place, even with a quadruple-dipped cone. (All magnets are located on the interior of the pieces, so there's no danger of the magnets breaking off and posing a serious risk to small children.)
Almost Good Enough to Eat
This set carries realistic, authentic touches, from the classic ice cream scoopers to the waffle design on the wooden cones. The cones look so good that our child tester almost fooled an adult into thinking her cone was real.
With its simple design and sturdy build, the Melissa & Doug Ice Cream Set gives children ideal props to inspire their imaginations -- no batteries, bells, or whistles to limit the possibilities. The toy can also aid in developing motor skills every time a young child uses the ice cream scooper to stack and balance the scoops.
But it's a toy that older children will enjoy, too. The toy's sturdy, quality construction helps ensure that it will last through many years of play. Because it comes with two scoopers, this toy is ideal for group play, although some testers wished that the set had a few more pieces.

The bus was definitely the right way to get across the country. With the exception of the sleeping difficulties and discomfort and the terrible customer service they deliver, the greyhound can actually really enhance the traveling experience. I met five people on the bus in the past 19 hours. It sounds like a long time but it went by really fast.
When I was waiting for the bus at whistler there were a group of 3 girls sitting at a table beside a terrible sushi place which I experienced the night before. One of the girls was in front of me in line with a Nestle Drumstick. She placed it on the counter and opened her hands exposing a good deal of change which she looked very happy to rid herself of. The Japanese lady at the counter who barely spoke any English at all looked at her with amazement and then complete disgust. “No” she replied and shook her head. The girl who’s name I later found out to be Marina just said, “sorry?” and returned the ladies look of disgust. The Japanese lady started yelling at who I think may have been her husband in her native language and he yelled something back and she told the girl, “we cannoh take dis, No!” then shooed her away with her hands. Marina left the ice cream on the counter and walked away with her change when the Japanese lady yelled back “hey hey, you come back”. Marina turned around and the lady motioned her to put the ice cream back in the freezer then crossed her arms. Marina did put the ice cream back and I lofted my brow at the girls and they lofted back and shrugged.

I got on the bus and sat at the back on the right hand side. I was told by a local for the bus ride TO whistler you sit on the left (which I inadvertently did before knowing this) and on the way home you sit on the right. The three girls got on the bus and sat across from me and we all started talking, mostly about the crazy Japanese woman. Directly across from me was Helena, behind her was Bruna, and in front was Marina. The girls were at Whistler for the day because they were soon leaving to go home to Brazil and wanted to see more of Canada before leaving. They were in Canada to learn English which they were speaking well enough that I could understand them without struggling. At one point the conversation went quiet for about 15 seconds and Helena started singing and the other two jumped in and they were singing very beautiful Portuguese songs. They were all very beautiful Brazilian women and have amazing music and voices. We parted ways at the Vancouver bus station and we said our goodbyes and exchanged e-mails to keep in touch.

I met Ryan at the bus depot (thanks again Ryan) to collect my mp3 player which I had forgotten at his house. And waited for my 12:30 bus to Invermere. I slept on the bus and woke up several times extremely uncomfortable. Other people were traveling light enough to afford the luxury of pillows, I was very envious. Finally daylight started breaking out over the mountains which weren’t quite so big now that we’d entered the Okanagan Valley. At one stop in the valley a guy got on sat across from me where Helena had been sitting. He looked around my age maybe a couple years older. The bus stopped 10 minutes later for a breakfast break. When the driver announced we would depart in one hour he showed obvious frustration and then vocalized it to me. “Well isn’t that my luck, I live 10 minutes away and now we’re stopping for an hour, I could have woken up an hour later and driven here instead”. We talked for a little bit longer on our way in to the cafeteria.
Working at the cafeteria was this old grey haired Korean man who had an interesting air about him. He look at me and said “WHAT YOU WANT ORDER!!!”. I replied that I’d like 2 eggs with sausage and he yelled “HOW YOU LIKE EGGS!!”. I like mine over easy. The man put a piece of paper with number in a cup and shoved it across the counter and did the same routine for the guy from the bus (Rene). We sat down at a table chuckling about the old man and then we heard the man blast out “81!!!!”, then a moment of silence and then again “81!!!”. Then a man took his meal. Minutes later the man screamed “78!!!...... 78!!!..... 78!!!!..... 78!!!???..... EXPRESS OMELET!!!!!!”. And then pointed to a lady and said “YOU!!! EXPRESS OMELET!!!”. The lady said, “It’s not my express omelet, my number is 79” (my number was 79). The old man pushed the plate across the counter and said, “TAKE AND GO!!!”. The lady sheepishly walked away with her meal. I saw that my meal was going up in the window so I darted over so that he wouldn’t have to shout a second time. He shouted “79!!!” and I appeared in front of him and he said “WHAT YOU WANT!”. I told him that I was 79 and started grabbing my plate and he stopped me and took it away from me and said “YOU WAIT”. He put a knife and fork on my plate and said “HERE TAKE THIS!!”.
When I got back to my seat Rene was in stitches and described the Chinese man as “an amazing

60th Wedding Anniversary Celebration Photo

It was in January, but we celebrated it yesterday. Here are the offspring, spouses, (2 girlfriends) and one "adopted" granddaughter (she's a neighbor) of my parents. Most of us spent the night with them Saturday night (3 bedroom ranch). We made 4 freezers of home made ice cream. 35 more people (most were family) showed up yesterday afternoon to help them celebrate. We had a blast.
